Hi my name is Emon, I’m 34years old.  I’m married and have three children.  I’m Indonesian and belong to the Betawi ethnic group.  I was born and raised in Parigi Lama.  I left school in year nine and began sewing when I was 16.  I was interested in sewing and learnt from someone how to sew.  I used to make pants, shirts, and jackets.  In fact before the economic crisis of 1997 I had a very good business, I employed 10 people.  But after the monetary crisis I found it hard to make ends meet.  My business failed.  Until recently I had very little money coming in.  Now with the Village Awakening Project and G-litter I am making money, learning new skills and helping my environment.  When I first began making bags from rubbish my neighbours laughed at me, but now they help me collect rubbish.
